Founded in 2017, WAYMOTIVE INC was built on a simple belief: everyday shopping should be easy, not an inconvenience. We noticed that busy commuters, shift workers, parents, and local residents often struggled to find essential items outside standard 9-to-5 retail hours, or had to travel long distances for basic goods. That’s why we designed our convenience retail locations to be where you are, when you need us: in residential neighbourhoods, near transit hubs, and along high-traffic commuter routes, most open 18 to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our team prioritizes stocking high-quality, trusted brands alongside affordable private-label options, ensuring there is something for every budget and preference. We also invest in our local communities, hiring locally and partnering with nearby food banks to donate unsold, still-safe perishable items each month. 24/7 Neighbourhood Convenience Store Deployment
In 2021, the Maplewood Residential Community association approached WAYMOTIVE INC to address a critical gap in local retail access: the 12,000-resident neighbourhood had no grocery or retail stores within a 2-mile radius, and the nearest retailer closed at 9 PM, leaving shift workers and families with young children without access to essential items outside standard hours. We deployed a 3,500-square-foot WAYMOTIVE convenience store in a central, walkable location in the community, with 24/7 operating hours and a curated assortment tailored to local resident feedback, including a large selection of fresh produce, halal and kosher food options, and pet care supplies. We also hired 18 local residents for store positions, and established a monthly community donation program to support the local food bank and after-school programs.
Commuter Hub Convenience Store Network
In 2022, the Midwest Regional Transit Authority partnered with WAYMOTIVE INC to launch convenience retail locations at 8 high-traffic train and bus stations across Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, serving a total of 140,000 daily commuters. The goal was to provide commuters with access to quick breakfast options, refreshments, and travel essentials during their commutes, reducing the need for additional stops before or after work. We designed compact, 1,200-square-foot stores optimized for fast, 2-minute or less shopping trips, with extended hours matching transit service schedules (4 AM to 1 AM, 7 days a week). Each store features a large grab-and-go food and beverage section, plus travel essentials like phone chargers, travel-sized toiletries, and over-the-counter medications.
Zero-Waste Neighbourhood Convenience Store Pilot
In 2023, WAYMOTIVE INC partnered with GreenPointe, a net-zero sustainable housing development with 2,200 eco-conscious residents, to launch our first zero-waste convenience store location. The store features package-free bulk stations for dry goods, cleaning products, and personal care items, 100% compostable packaging for all prepared foods, a ban on single-use plastic bags, and a take-back program for hard-to-recycle packaging like snack wrappers and beauty product containers. We worked directly with GreenPointe residents to curate the store assortment, prioritizing local, organic, and zero-waste products, and implemented a rewards program for customers who bring their own reusable containers and bags.
